ITINERARY

Corner-2

Day 1 – Arrive in Iguazu

Fly overnight to Sao Paulo. On arrival, board your domestic flight to Iguazu.

Day 2 – Experience Iguazu

Your honeymoon begins in dramatic style as you visit the incomparable Iguazu Falls. Starting on the Brazilian side, a half-day tour with a guide will help illuminate this incredible natural wonder. Staying close to the falls, you’ll have privileged access to the surrounding area.

Day 3 – Iguazu

On day three you’ll cross the border into Argentina to view the falls from a different angle. Your full-day tour will allow you to see the waterfall in all its glory: some 200 falls reaching heights over more than 60 metres, easily seen from a network of walkways that allow you to get up close – including right up to the Devil’s Throat where the roar and spray is at its most impressive.

Days 4 – Fly to Ouro Preto

You’ll be taken to the airport for your domestic flight to Belo Horizonte. From here you’ll be taken to the beautiful town of Ouro Preto, where you’ll stay in the colonial centre amid the elegant buildings.

Day 5 – Discover Ouro Preto

Founded in 1711, Ouro Preto soon became a boomtown as the centre for gold, diamond and semi-precious stone trading. Barely changed since colonial times, the town’s 18th-century architecture has been beautifully preserved and has a romantic, old-world charm. You’ll get to see some of the town’s highlights on a tour, taking in richly-decorated churches including Sao Francisco de Assisi and Our Lady of the Pilar, museums and grand buildings.

Day 6 – Ouro Preto

A free day to explore Ouro Preto at your own pace could include a visit into the mine-tunnelled hills of Minas Gerais, or walking to a vantage point to take in the view of the town’s 23 churches as they unfold beneath you.

Day 7 – Fly to Rio de Janeiro

You’ll be driven back to Belo Horizonte to fly to your next destination, Rio de Janeiro. On arrival in the city you’ll be taken to your hotel where you’ll spend the next three nights.

Day 8 – Explore Rio de Janeiro

Rio de Janeiro’s skyline is one of the most recognisable in the world, and today you’ll get to explore two of its most identifiable sights: Corcovado and Mount Sugar Loaf. Trains and cable cars will help you get to the top of each peak, where you’ll be able to stand under the outstretched arms of Christ the Redeemer and, from Sugar Loaf, take in the incredible views of the city beneath you.

Day 9 – Rio de Janeiro

Spend the day relaxing on the beaches of Ipanema and Copacabana – it’s your honeymoon after all! – or taking in the city’s newly developed areas leftover from the 2016 Rio Olympics.

Day 10 – Drive to Buzios

You’ll be driven to Buzio (2.5 hours) where you’ll check into your hotel for the next four nights.

Days 11-13 – Relax in Buzios

Buzios is one of the most glamorous resorts in Brazil and is described as the ‘Brazilian St. Tropez’. The resort was ‘discovered’ in the Sixties by Brigitte Bardot and her Brazilian lover when it was just a humble (albeit beautiful) fishing village. Today, the resort town is lined with stylish hotels, chic boutiques and upscale restaurants. Stay in a traditional pousada (a smart guest house) for the most authentic way to experience the town and enjoy the lingering Portuguese influences: narrow cobbled streets, a waterfront promenade and shady courtyards perfect for sleeping off a lazy afternoon. Spend four days relaxing in the beachfront town, winding down before your flight home.

Day 14 – Return flight

You’ll be driven back to Rio de Janeiro (2.5 hours) where you will be dropped off at the international airport for your flight back to the UK.
