Day 2 – Explore Rio de Janeiro

Spend the day exploring Rio de Janeiro’s sights as a family, visiting two of the city’s best attractions. Enjoy the jaw-dropping views over Guanabara Bay, take the train to the top of Corcovado and stand at the feet of Cristo Redentor – Christ the Redeemer – before taking the cable car up to the top of Sugarloaf Mountain, one of the most iconic views of the city skyline.

Day 3 – Free day in Rio de Janeiro

Spend your free in Rio de Janeiro relaxing in the surrounds of your hotel, or head out and enjoy the sights. Copacabana Beach is only a short walk away, or you could enjoy some of the many family-friendly activities on offer. One of the best new openings is the Museum of Tomorrow, a high-tech building with a huge cantilevered roof; inside you can play futuristic games design to connect science and everyday life. Foodie families might like to try new flavours in the favelas; don’t miss pasteis tropeiros (black bean, spinach and chorizo pasties).

Day 4 – Fly to Iguazu Falls

You’ll be driven to the airport for your flight to Iguazu. On arrival you’ll check into your hotel, where you’ll stay for two nights.

Day 5 – Discover Iguazu Falls

On your exploration of Iguazu you’ll visit the Argentine side of the falls, navigating through the spray via the network of walkways that cross the national park. The culmination of your visit is surely the Devil’s Throat: the most powerful waterfall in the cataract. Adventurous youngsters will love the thrill of getting drenched by the mist and hearing the roar of the water thundering over the lip. Your afternoon is free to relax in the national park; consider an optional helicopter ride for the most staggering view.

Day 6 – Fly to Manaus

Visit the Brazilian side of Iguazu Falls on your journey back to the airport. From here, fly to Manaus via the capital, Brasilia. On arrival in the Amazonian city you’ll be taken to a nearby hotel where you’ll spend the night.

Days 7-8 – Travel into the jungle

Today you will enjoy a leisurely morning transfer to your Amazon eco-lodge where you’ll spend two nights on a thrilling jungle adventure; if you’d prefer, there’s also the option to stay on a comfortable river boat, so you can cruise through the rainforest. Choose from a variety of tours to help you make the most of your stay; intrepid explorers can trek through the jungle, take a boat trip in search of the elusive native wildlife or learn about the lifestyles and customs of the Amazonian people – all accompanied by a knowledgeable guide.
